Few other animals portray the beauty, mystery and vulnerability of our natural world as effectively as whales and dolphins.

The sheer size of whales, the largest animals that have ever graced our planet, and the streamlined shape, fluid grace and intelligent, friendly demeanor of dolphins has been marveled at for centuries. Ancient Arab seafarers revered them and many coastal communities of the region still consider their presence to be a symbol of good fortune.

Studying and understanding the marine mammals that inhabit the waters off the Emirate of Fujairah will help us to better understand and protect them, as well as contributing to a growing body of knowledge on the cetacean fauna of the Arabian region.
